Shut off power to room. Take cover off outlet. Unscrew box Examine wiring for frayed melted areas. Put new outlet in place using previous wiring as a guide. Put outlet insulation pad in place to help stop drafts....hey...the plates already off ya? Screw cover back in place. Take a photo of the out let and wireing before you begin if it would help. Get one of meter that will tell you if the outlet is live. ?rentable?
