use a filler from Home Depot or lowes. But before you start, lightky sand the cabinets, after filling, do another light sand to smooth it out. Apply paint in light coats with a sanding in between And finish with a sealer.

The best thing to do is wash them with Murphy's oil soap, according to the bottle directions. Next you need to put a sealer on the cabinets, so the paint goes on evenly. Go to Homedepot or Lowe's and ask them what's best for the cabinet finish. If you want a professional look, remove the hardware, and the doors. These need to be on a flat surface to paint. This avoids streaks and bubbling up. There are many colors from which to choose from, but make sure your paint is a high gloss, so you can clean them with a little soap and water. The hardware can be replaced or spray painted whatever color will give contrast. Good Luck!
spackle the surface and let dry 24 hrs. then lightly sand and paint.
