What's the best flower/plant to grow in Texas?

Ny suggestion is to go through gardening websites first to get a idea of what will work in your zone. Basically there is not much offered with no maintenance.All gardens regardless of what is planted will always need attending to.
One thing to remember when planting under pines is their needles create acid soil, so pick acid-loving plants.
Call in a Landscape Designer who will be able to not only give you a plan but will also give you a planting plan and a plant list. They will give you a plan to suit your requirements.
Hostas are low maintenance, they love shade and produce some nice flowers! They also multiply on their own, but don't become out of control!
