if they are just dusty I would go with a Swiffer sweeper wand (love those things) but if they are greasy and grimy you should take them down and wash with good old dawn dish soap

Thank you Kristina. They are made from Basswood so I can't wash them. Plus they are large and heavy. No grease or grime just dusty. Swiffer I have used in the past and it works well. Because they are so large it takes all day to do first floor.

There is a tool for that it's called a blind cleaner. It cleans five slats at a time. Bed,Bath, and Beyond should them, or any place that sells home items. Ex. iron, dish drain, dish towels, etc. Good Luck!

Use the swifter duster,or the tool specifically made for cleaning blinds

Amazon sells a dry sponge/eraser that is specifically for removing smoke damage from lampshades and other surfaces that can't be washed, maybe that would work for you.

I use an old tube sock that I place on my hand and I make a batch of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 warm water in a bowl. I dip my hand in the solution with the sock on and then I run it over the blinds! Works great!!

Just use your vacuum with the brush head. Or use a micro fiber dust collector. Close the blinds and run it over that entire side then close in opposite direction and do the same thing. Trust me you don't want to take them down every month and stick in tub or take outside to hose down. Every few months do a more detailed cleaning but yes blinds are awful but serve a purpose.

If you have open windows that send in dust...do Amanda's suggestion. Tube sock and vinegar, the best! However, if this is a big problem, have your air ducts cleaned. It's not cheap, however if you watch what comes out you will gag. And the house will stay cleaner, longer.

Hope you like this tool. Clean with a liquid, and put your blinds horizontal, and let the air dry them. EJL.
