Bummed out! One of the kids put their foot with a shoe on it, on the couch and created this tear in the seat cushion. I’m wondering if I can sew it, instead of pay ... See more
maybe buy some leather pieces and cover both armreast so they match. I had a car with ripped leather. I just glued contrasting colored leather right on top.
That looks like bleach if so use a dark color and paint it.
Contact an upholster shop for their advise and help.
You can buy a leather repair kit from the local hardware store. I have used them on cracked leather and they work well.
That looks like bonded leather, that has separated from the backing, there is no good way to fix it. Stores and manufacturers that sell that kind of garbage, should be crossed off the list of people you are willing to do business with.
Sanbob4651 is right! I had one that did the same thing and when I bought it it was labeled "leather couch". In the small print (that I didn't read) it said it was bonded leather. There are some pretty nice couch covers out there now that fit very well. Measure your couch and start looking. I bought my daughter one from Bed, Bath & Beyond that looked great on her couch. I think it was $79 or so and then use the 20% coupon.
Ya it is bonded. Its peeling off. If you really want to do it right, contact the manufacturer. They can send you that arm replacement piece. You will have to have someone who reupholster take off the old and put on the new. May end up more than you paid. There are mobile leather repair vans. Look for one of them and see how much or if they can repair it.
You could try to make arm "sleeves" in a solid or mini-print contrasting/ complementary faux suede material for the tops (like elbow patches for your couch!). Get enough material to cover at least one throw pillow. I also suggest enough similar color faux suede in a print (geometric, stripe, whatever floats your boat!)as well and cover 2 additional throw pillows. Hopefully that will work as a good cover-up, be a little more durable, and last until you are ready to re-decorate.
Thank you 😊
bonded leather. I paid 1800. for a sectional - after a year it started to separate. I cried over this. had to buy couch on craigslist to replace - didn't have that kind of money to spend again. it was labeled as Leather Sectional from Signature, which I thought was a reputable company.
