    Foam - lighter and quicker.

Faux beams are much lighter. You'd have to have knowledge of carpentry to install real beams.

I will have to have someone install no matter what I use. Which one looks better in your opinion? On line the foam ones look pretty darn good?

My mom had faux beams in her northern Michigan home. After a few years some of the glue (liquid nails?) failed and the parts of the beams were loose, we just used more glue and long sticks to brace them up while it set. If you use WOOD, be sure to use long screw to attach them to studs, because if they fall it could be very dangerous. This would be at least a two person job and many ladders.

Definitely foam.. you can actually glue it on.

Foam is so much better in every way possible! Easy to place, lightweight, glue versus spikes/long nails, takes paint, very realistic, NO BUGS, can be replaced or repainted, probably cheaper (haven't looked for a beam this size in a very long time), etc.
