How to use branches for legs on a table

I have several pieces of wood for a table top. I have 4 branches I'd like to attach as legs. Have no idea how??

4 x Oblong or Square pieces of wood. Screw down through the middle of the wood into the centre of the branch . Then Screw either side/sides of the piece of wood to the underside of the Timber Top. Repeat 3 more times.......................
