If you only have a dozen or so plants, why don't you go with containers next year? Start with fresh mulch and soil from a garden dept. Keep the plants far away from this year's site. Use seeds or plants from a different store and don't use seeds from your own crop. You might try 3 or 4 different varieties. Keep a record of when, what, where and results.
