its best to remove all the cabinets first (and label them so you know which goes where (and organize the hardware / screws so you use the same ones in the same place - it saves a lot of time and headache later). Begin by sanding them and then using a filler to fill in any dents, scratches, gaps etc. You can prime or just start with paint. Sand, another light coat of paint and continue to sand between light coats until you achieve the level of opacity you like. Finish off with a good sealer.

  • Always start from the top down to eliminate dripping on previously painted surfaces.

Start by removing the doors. It's a good idea to number them so youll know where the go back. Give all a light sanding. You may want to prime first. Then paint away!

I'd remove all the hardware, then each door one by one Numbering them either at the top or the bottom with a permanent marker. (Top cabinet doors....# on top, bottom doors....# on bottom). Sand the cabinet, prime then paint. When doing the doors, sand and prime both sides. I personally paint the backside first, let dry, flip, paint the front, let dry, repeat. I also use dixie cups to lift the doors off the drop cloth while painting. Always use a sponge roller for the smoothest surface, unless you prefer the look of brush strokes. ( It's a personal preference. ) Also remember to number drawers as you remove them. Best of luck.

Left to right, top then bottom. Same with drawers, top to bottom. I also install self adhesive flooring tiles to the shelves. They look great and clean up easy.
