Finally someone has asked the question that I have been wondering about ever since this fad became popular! I totally don't get it either.
Personally I like my house to look crisp and clean. There is no shabby chic here.
There are a bunch more answers to your question "What's the fascination with shabby chic?" That's above this question.
I might have answered this before but it's just a personal style. If some of us grew up on a farm, a cottage or just like things that are old, we get it. We love it and if we can't afford it, we make it the way we want it.
Pleasing old. Comfortably worn. Look beyond the chipped or dirty, something beautiful is there. To each her/his own. No need to understand someone's taste, find and enjoy your own taste, understand it, and decorate in your style. Open your mind to research and learn about decorating. And have fun while doing it.
