Decorated peg board-turned-kitchen-tool rack. This is a re-use of an old lace table cloth that I used to decorate the kitchen mini blind in a previous project.
First, here's the backing for the pegboard.
Here it is on the wall--yes, just an ordinary, run-of-the-mill pegboard I bought at my local hardware store. I put it up so I could make sure it fit before I went to the effort of decorating it. It's painted the same white as the wall.
So, I took the board down and covered it with the old tablecloth. This is the very same cloth I used for the kitchen mini-blind. I used the same color, too, since this is also for the kitchen. The most important part here is to get the cloth centered so the design is pleasing......unless your cloth has no center, then it won't matter.
The fun part of painting! Let the inner child go and cover it lightly with spray paint. I don't try to get too uniform; I like the slightly aged, distressed look if it's a little bit uneven. I remove the cloth with the paint is 'tacky' but before it's 'dry' so the cloth won't stick to it.
......and it's up! One of these days I'll get around to putting a frame on it. Maybe.
Here the cloth is stretched out on the ground to dry. It's ready to use again!
It's so nice to have certain tools within reach and others that are heavy or bulky out of the drawers & cupboards!

Pegboard was very big in the '70's and I had a large piece hung with copper bottomed pans. It was annoying since the hooks would often come off with the pot and/or utensil. I bet the tablecloth addition helps prevent that. I like the idea of adding the fabric. Congratulations!
