My husband cooks & burns microwave popcorn in the microwave daily.

The inside of the appliance is gold. It's suppose to be white. I've tried all diy tricks but it's still yellow. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Fill a bowl with 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon white vinegar.

Microwave it for 4-5 minutes and leave it with the door shut for 10-15 minutes.Steam will loosen smell-causing detritus stuck to the walls. ... After the waiting period, remove the bowl and wipe the inside of the microwave down with a paper towel.

thank you, tried this again & it didn't work but appreciate your reply. I fuss but he doesn't really mean to be messy. He has had 5 strokes & forgets that he set the timer to slightly scorch the corn.

it is his only vice so I just let it go & try to keep it clean

Depending on where you live scotch grass, crown grass and St Augustine grass are som good choices. Many people choose not to plant grass at all but to use decorative stone, artificial turf or something like that that is attractive and near maintenance free.

Try the special cleaner used for cleaning GLASS stovetops. You can buy it at Home Depot in the area where they sell the fridges and stoves/ovens.

First put vinegar in one large cup, set o Hi for 5 minutes in your microwave. Leave it in for 5 minutes. Next pour the vinegar from the microwave, into large bowl. Add baking soda to the vinegar about 1/4 cup, stir, and clean the microwave with this . If it's still smells put a cut of lemon pieces in a cup/ water to cover the lemon. Power on High for 5 minutes wipe. About the yellow color maybe the lemon will do the job. Good Luck!

Write down instructions and time for cooking Popcorn on top of Microwave, and tell your Husband to adhere to them - If not - he gets to clean it or it goes.

I agree! That's funny, here's the thing. He loves his corn & he likes to take it to just a bit scorched but over does it too much. He has had 5 strokes & he loves watching t v & eating his favorite thing! I just can't get the yellow out. I don't think it's good for him either. But it's not smoking or beer so that's good, huh?

My husband is 68 now. He'd had little strokes for 10 yrs that we didn't even know were strokes because of previous health issues. Six months after retiring he has gone on to have four big ones that have hospitalized him each time. You are Blessed that your husband is still mobile. I move mine from bed to wheelchair, wheelchair into recliner and reverse that every 12 hrs or so.

Also, we have a special needs, 21 yr old daughter I have to help with. She is mobile, etc. but I have to never leave her alone.

I hope the stove top cleaner works.

My sister swears by the Mr. Clean cleaning sponges that have a cleanser already in them. Only the Mr. Clean kind though.

Usually once those white areas have yellowed, it's too late; just be glad they are inside the appliance. I have two hinges on my fridge that are VERY noticeable as they are right at the front but nothing I've tried has whitened the hinges. I just live with it. I am considering trying to paint the hinges but have many other jobs yet on my "to do" list!
