How to improve a solid hollow core panty door?

My panty has a old fashion hollow core door oak color and I would like to update the look, Have any cheap or reasonable ideas?

Paint it in a contrasting color to give it some character.
Stencil it with some acrylic paint and spray with a clear enamel to set the paint and make it last, so you won't rub it off when cleaning.

How about chalk board paint that you can use for your grocery lists, notes for the family etc.
Attach some molding to it with liquid nails. Paint it with chalk board paint and use it as a message board.
