What are my best options? I live in the woods and don't really want to cut trees down.

My brother uses one of these. He has it at the end of a metal piece of long pipe. Then he has the pipe inside a larger pipe that is fixed into the ground. That way he can rotate it to get reception, as it changes with the weather, where he lives.

Based on your location and the distance of transmission towers you may need to place the antenna high. You can find location and distance locations on this site. The farther away the higher the antenna needs to be.
