High sheen or no sheen? Slate lends itself to paint, but it also absorbs. Are you thinking high sheen or no sheen? You can paint it the same way brick is painted. You can use a water based paint and do several coats for no sheen or you can use semi-gloss. You may have to do several coats to achieve the look you want but you need to give a porous stone time to dry to see the results. I would guess at least 24 hours. The sheen is key. Are you going for a country or city look. You can paint over no sheen with semi-gloss. You will difficulty doing it the opposite way.
Thanks , have you ever done it ? Do you have photos ... Can you send them to me ? Thx
