There are different products used to paint over wood veneer and "formica". First thing is to sand them to scuff them up so paint can stick. If they are a plastic laminate use a shellac base primer because it will stick better than paint. It can also be tinted the same as your finish coat. Then proceed with your choice of paint on top of that. Primer and sanding are important steps you must not omit or your paint won't stick well and will scratch and chip easily.
Make sure they are clean and dry. Use acrylic latex paint. Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand the doors and cabinets to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123, KILZ,or BIN. Then paint with your color. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.
