I covered a desk with bead board wallpaper and want to do the same for a filing cabinet (project #5,943!). You won't believe how great this looks. I used Martha Stewart wallpaper from HD. The wallpaper was self-adhesive, but I used wallpaper paste instead. But I would suggest using a spray adhesive for your metal filing cabinet. Oh, and the wallpaper can be painted.

We took a four drawer filing cabinet and turned it sideways, we drilled holes first for water drainage, filled it with stones and earth, and then fill each of the four slots with annuals.
Have fun there are so many creative uses for these treasures.
