Chalk Paint-Repainting new color

I have painted a piece of furniture and the color is much lighter than I wanted. I did go ahead and wax it to see if that helped but it didn't. What do I need to do before I paint it a new color? Do I need to sand over the wax? Thanks for your help and suggestions!

you can just paint over it with new chalk paint color......thats the beauty of this product

So, I don't need to sand first? I thought I had read somewhere that you shouldn't paint right over the wax.

I think I would sand over it lightly - just to rough up the surface a bit. Use tack cloth to wipe off the residue, though @Donna Narciso

In the past, I have just roughed it up a bit and repainted. Works like a charm.
