In an attempt to save money framing artwork for my son's room, I decided to assemble a store-bought frame and a custom cut mat for a 'semi-custom' style. To my surprise, it turns out a favorite store not only puts them together FOR FREE but it ended up costing hundreds less than if I'd gone the custom route!

Elaine Simmons on Mar 10, 2014I didn't know Michael's did this either. Good thing to know the next time I want something framed. Another tip.........if you can't find the color mat you want in standard sizes, you can spray paint the mat......I have done this several times and it works beautifully. White mats are always available.
