Where to buy them? My niece bought a half dozen on eBay for her wedding reception because she wanted the vintage look of glass stands.
You can make them. Select a glass plate and a glass, upend the glass and glue the glass plate to the glass. Voila! The glue can be a hardy glass glue or you can use silicone. Small glass vases can be substituted for the glasses.
can be rented from a party store. if you are not in the biz of making wedding cakes and mints professionally...rentals are your best bet. if you diy one- stress test it- those cakes are heaver than you think. this is from a baker's daughter.
You can use a variety of things for wedding cake stands but since this is a very important cake on a VERY important day, make sure what you use is sturdy enough to hold the cake for several hours, is nontoxic and won't make the cake taste funny! Pinterist has some good ideas, link below, including wood rounds, a DIY version with dollar store cup and tart pan. I've seen some that were made from wine glasses glued to the bottom of a clear plate (3, glued on in a triangle pattern). You can always decorate with flowers, tulle, etc. to hide the bottom of a much-used cake stand. Here is the Pinterist link.

A week or so ago we attended a wedding held at a scout camp. Rusticity was the theme, although the dinner itself was served on lovely tables. The cake stand was a slice of wood! Or anyway looked like one!
