Hello Yvette :) Did you know that different types of Hydrangeas have different times when they should be pruned back (or in the case of Mopheads, not pruned at all) ? They only bloom on old wood. if you cut them back too far you will have greenery but no blooms.
right after they bloom -- if you cut back too late in the summer, you will cut off 'next' years blooms -
