Gauthmi, I was thinking on how to do this inexpensively. You can use regular or maybe plastic roller shades. Draw or stencil your pattern onto the shade. Use an Xacto knife ( craft knife ) to cut out the parts you want the light to shine through. You can try a spray paint for plastic or regular spray paint or anything you can experiment with on this shade. See which paint works better with being rolled up. Nice Idea good luck with your experimenting and let us know how it turned out. You may be able to create a tutorial for Hometalkers :)
Leslie Ur idea gave me an idea , Will use a pin to poke holes instead of a knife. But hope I can find the right kind of roller blinds. Can anyone help with dot silhoutte of cityscapes
Try googling "cityscape graphic" or "cityscape vector", or "skyline" graphic or vector. You'll find your choice of major cities and skyline designs. You'll have to decide what you want to punch out, but a lot of them seem easily adapted.
Good luck! Post pictures!
I am guessing you could make this if you had a Brother Scan and Cut or a Cricut machine, as long as you could remove the blinds from the roller bar and then put them back on. This is very cool, thank you for sharing it.
wonder if old player piano rolls would have a similar effect? They are already on rollers.
That is beautiful! Gives me some ideas!
