We made some very easy ones for Christmas. Since lights show at night, we did not add anything but lights. Turn the cage over and tie the loose prongs that would normally go in the ground to make a pointed top. Wind a string of lights around it OR buy the lights with a circular loop at the top made for Christmas trees with the strings hanging down evenly all the way around. We used garden pegs to "staple" them to the ground. They are also available at home improvement stores. If you want it for daytime show, wrap green garland before adding lights.
I would like to make two "tomato cage trees" for our front porch. I would turn the cage over and secure the prongs together with a rubber band or wire. Then wrap green garland around them. Put the lights on top of the garland. You could put a large star at the top.
