There are codes which dictate how close a toilet can be to a vanity or wall:
"Most codes require at least 15 inches (measured from the center of the toilet) from any side wall or obstruction and not closer than 30 inches center to center to any other sanitary fixture. (The National Kitchen and Bath Association actually recommends 32 inches.) There should be at least 24 inches of clear space in front of a toilet or bidet."
If you have all the requirements, you can put a double vanity. Good luck!
It looks like you might have just enough space to accommodate a double sink. Of course you will have to give up some of the space on top of your current vanity and some space between the commode and sink. I think it would be best to draw out a sketch of the room and include measurements of everything. Take that with you when you shop for your new double vanity.
Hi Maryellen, This sink would probably work! It's only 31 1/2" wide https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Top-end-melamine-wall-hung-bathroom_60149589043.html
Good luck!
Hi, @MaryellenGood. You can have whatever you can afford and are willing to live with. Our toilet closet, separate from the rest of the bathroom, meets the standards quoted above by @Bijous_2010. It appears your toilet meets them, too. I would build a bookcase from the wall to 1" beyond the minimum distance then add shelves all the way across. Each sink needs a good mirror, or you could share one big mirror, but you may need shelves in front of one big mirror. You may have to use two smaller sinks, or use one medium and one small. A plumber, or someone well-experienced, can repipe under the sink. A new double sink cabinet similar to what your single looks like can be built or bought for less than $200, or you can spend much more. That way you won't need the aluminum and plastic shelving you are using above the toilet, and you will have convenient shelving for all your toiletries, two small sinks, and some counterspace for applying makeup. You might be able to have a small base cabinet with storage below the sink, but probably not drawers. Best wishes 😇💖
