I find that when the wind blows, the air from outside causes a draft to come through my doorknobs! Right now I hang a coat on them but it would be nice not to have to... See more

sorry the only way to get rid of them i to pick the leaves up,you cannot fight mother nature
It sounds like you have a breezeway between your new in-law suite and the main house which is collecting leaves. You will have to block the draft, maybe with a small decorative gate? You can even use pallets to make it. Without actually seeing the problem it's hard to recommend a solution. Any chance you can post a picture of the area?
You can put up a small, decorative fence to hold back the onslaught.
Is it blowing in under the door? if so add a threshold trim with a rubber flange at the bottom outside edge to prevent it.
If its blowing in from around the side seams of the door, I would add the weather trim that has a metal edge with a bubble of rubber to block air...... https://www.familyhandyman.com/doors/door-weather-stripping/view-all/
I agree with Nancy. No matter what your configuration you've got to find a way to block the leaves - screening, fence, hedge, stone wall - something that will work.
