I had a big problem for a while and I ended up using old-fashioned fly tape. Flies have a relatively short life and the sticky tape helped catch them and stopped from them making more flies.
google how to get rid of fruit flies.
If you have an "out of the way" place to hang a fly strip, they are the nasty solution that always works and is cheap. You can get 4/1.00 and they love it. That said, this link has the cheapest way to do it inside that isn't ugly. Hope it helps.

First of all it is necessary to reduce the amount of time the doors remain open when used. Depending on what type of flies you are talking about there are 2 different cures. If you are talking house flies, use a fly swater for what you see and a fly strip hung up from the ceiling or light will work when you are not there. Look in hardware or grocery stores for this. If you are talking about gnats you have to eliminate food waste from the kitchen. Clean sinks after meals including any strainers. Gnats do not like bleach, so using some in the drain will kill the ones living there. Use again after a few days and again in a few more days. You will be breaking there life cycle. I wipe down the counter tops with a water/bleach mix each time until gone. The next friend is apple cider vinegar. Place a small amount in a dish with a drop or two of dish soap, cover with plastic food wrap and stick a few holes (I use a tooth pick) in the cover so they can enter but will not find there way out and die. Refill after it has evaporated. If you have gnats in bathrooms there is a cure here. Same dish with vinegar, but bleach in the drains sink and shower, Close off all drains with something and close the sink vents with a rag or toilet paper after poring in bleach here to kill all that live here. IT WORKS!!
Eggs were probably laid weeks ago and are now hatching. Buy old-fashioned fly strips; not pretty, but the work.
