You must trap them and relocate them at least 10 to 12 miles from your home. The have the ability to find their way back to their colony.
Please contact any animal control service for the laws in your area, it is illegal for us to trap and relocate groundhogs. The quote cost to set up traps was $395.00 and $185.00 to take each rodent away. Little too rich to spend on the 3 I’ve seen in our yard.

So far what I did is working. I had part of a gallon jar of sliced jalapeños left from a party. I ran them through the blender with the juice. Then where I seen signs of my unwanted guest I applied a half cup or so. Scattered or in any holes. Seems to have sent them some place else besides my yard. So far so good.
First thing to do is get rid of any stacked wood. They are commonly called Woodchucks, thus they live and hide in the wood piles.
Soaking an old rag in ammonia & putting it it there hole also works & they relocate themselves off your property.
My step-grandfather said they tasted like chicken and made a great meal. I would call County Natural Resources and ask their advice.
