How can I make my interior closets smell like cedar without spending a fortune on cedar paneling?
I'm not quite sure what your question/issue is. Would you please be more specific?
can you put it in the entry way for coats, etc? then paint a coordinating color with living room..
you could add crates on their sides to make shelves and use in your kitchen , bathroom, garage, basement, bedroom.....anywhere you might need extra storage. The color can be coordinated with any room you decide to use it. Think beyond what you typically would use it for and the possibilities are endless.
Do you have a back porch or balcony for tools, or even cleaning supplies? Deb's idea is great.
I also love Deb's idea! Could you put floating shelves around the room to store what absolutely needs to be in the bedroom and put that piece elsewhere in the house?
If the width matches paint it to match the dresser and stack (getting a locking screw set for the back) them together. Get a folding closet ladder, (Tuesday Morning) so you can utilize the closet.
If you have width add baskets on the side like the above idea.
If you have kids or grandkids it would be a lovely dress up closet. I had s oak one and a small kitchen and used mine for can goods. It's in the basement now storing pans and large things I need but don't use often.
I forgot to mention. Older closets where smaller, a normal hanger doesn't fit them. I had to use children's hangers or they would hit the back.
Minwax makes a real pretty gray stain that would be nice. I would first give it a sand so its porous to receive the stain. It doesn't seem to have a finish on it,but if it does remove that first, if its stained-strip with a stripper that says it removes stain (not all do).
Try the stain in an area thats not seen. If its too dark, I would bleach up the wood a bit with some wood bleach. Then if you like, stain the piece.
I turned a cabinet like this into my little home office. I added a pull out shelf for my laptop & another shelf for my printer. I attached file holders to the inside if the doors and a cork coard to the back wall. My paper, envelopes & office supplies all fit.
Have fun!

I am thinking pantry..I LOVE this closet !! Maybe a whitewash distressed look?
If it will lay flat on its back, you could turn it into a bench or coffee table. You would still be able to use the storage space inside.
You mean you don't need a shoe closet? or enclosed bookcase.
Lock it up for adult beverages
. pop out the panels and insert glass.
flip up side down and attach to the ceiling or as a bathroom cupboard mounted to the wall. any thing.
Put a hinge on the top and use for your laundry collection area.
turn on its side, remove a door. and use for your cat box.
you are only limited by your imagination, and your special needs
Here is another thought inset child proof locks. coat it appropriately and use outside for a plant stand. and for package box for the upcoming holiday season as a drop box.
It could also be used to store pet food, short handled garden tools. chemicals. etc.
even painting supplies.
Put wheels on it. change out the hardware and use it as a wine cart, hobby storage, bbq tool storage, health care items.
Top with butcher block before using it near cooking area. Heat may damage the finish otherwise.
Use in kitchen for extra storage. Refinish in your color of choice, put 'S' hooks over the rod inside. Use them to hang pots and pans. Set baskets in the bottom to hold pot lids or you could insert a tension rod inside toward the front (near the bottom) and prop your cookie sheets up behind it.
