    You can keep them in the garage until you plant them this fall. You should plant them so that the roots can take hold this fall before it freezes, but not if it is too long before the frost comes. The bulb could start sprouting and get frozen over winter.

    My mother used to put them in the vegetable bin when we lived in Savannah. She said they needed the cold to know it was spring later. I haven't tried it, because where I live it gets plenty cold!

    Tulips can be placed in a fridge as long as there's no food. Food gives off an ethylene gas that will kill the flower.
