Contrast the floor match one or more colours in your suite.........
Your rug should include some of all your furniture or tile/wood floor, but have its own distinct colors too with those colors as secondary. What is your favorite color? Mine has been green lately. I got a rug with sage green covered in dark orange leaves/blossoms with cream back ground. It would look great under your furniture. Take a swatch of your furniture material if you can get a piece off the under side skirt and take it to the store where you will buy your rug. Then compare it to the furniture and tile colors in the rug too. Have fun, take your time, and get to know the sales people. Some of them are very knowledgeable and love to help, esp. the elderly ones. They might have some books for you to look through also to give you ideas.
I would choose colors to compliment the furniture and accent colors. If it has one of the colors from the flooring to tie everything together that would be great, too.
Get a rug to make your other items stand out, not too matchy matchy.
I match my curtains, toss pillows, to my rug.
The rug in the photo is just blends in with no color pop, being your sofa are floral, but if your tired of it, I would add hunter green to pull out the color in the sofas or a cranberry but the rug is placed wrong in the room. Turning it would look fabulous, then move the sofa a little farther back and the green armless chairs place one at the window and the other cross this will complement the room nicely and add throw pillow in what ever color rug you choose.
Hi what about buying a large plain rug in the same peach colour /that's in your couch and seems a very similar colour in your floor tiles too tie everything together or get a carpet supplier to cut to size carpet in ur exact colour thats in your couch that also seems to be in your floor tilesand they can seal the edges for you to look like a large rug . I agree that a pop of colour is needed as opposed to ur lovely but a little plain rug you presently have.
