I use a wreath hangar or nail in top of door and attach wreath with ribbon. Then when it's situated to your satisfaction, take a piece of duct tape (try 4") and turn it into an inside-out circle; use to press wreath to door. Do at least three more to hold wreath in place. Even works if someone slams the door hard!
Maybe use the traditional over the door hook to hit from and then use a few pieces of Velcro to attach and keep securely in place all around. Another option is to secretly weigh down thfrom behind on the bottom where you can't see it to help hold it down. Use fishing weights or anything heavy but small.
If you have a metal door, you could buy those hanging magnets; buy extras and use three or four magnets, and add wire loops to the back of the wreath to attach them.
If your door is wood, how about a fancy ribbon, tied like a package, around your front door, and attach the wreath where the ribbons cross, anchoring the wreath to the ribbons, tying the wreath at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock?
They sell magnet disk that are strong and sturdy with a hook on them, I use two, one for the top and flip one for the bottom and you could tie sting to them. I had that same problem until I used this disk. I’ll take a picture of it and post it, they sell them at Walmart, bed bath and beyond and the Christmas tree shop for $2.99 each and come in black or white colors. I guessing you have a medal door if not then use command hooks the same way or place one at the bottom of the door and use clear string double and tried down.
Put a command hook on the inside of the door. Loop a thick ribbon around comand hook and around the wreath, and hang the ribbon over the top of the door. The closed door will help hold it in place.
