Let them dry naturally on a screen or cheesecloth and store in packets in a cool dark place.
My dad use to put them in a brown paper bag and put them in the basement till next spring. Opened bag not sealed
Many flowers have been engineered so that saving the seeds will do you no good. They won't bloom because the seeds are made that way.
You might have luck with others. Let them dry on the stems in the garden until they're ready to fall off. Then pick them and store in a cool dry place. A brown paper bag will work.
In the sun, but keep a eye on weather. I have used the top of a hot water heater for smaller amounts. You will need to do this for several days to make sure they have dried. Place them in jars or plastic bags to keep them dry.
