Put curtain rods on both top and bottom of each door. Put sheers or the curtain of your choice on, stretching it between the rods, you can gather them in the middle to let in more light or leave them alone. I have seen this done and it was very attractive.
Nancy is right. There are also sheets and quilts you might want to use. That said, do you have to hang something? Can you cover the doors with something sheer but private? Here is a link that will give you some alternative ideas.

We put small inexpensive rods on our French doors above and below and put sheer curtains on them. It looked decorative and gave privacy in the day. We did not need privacy for dark times. Hope this helps.
This is what I did at my mom's house. I purchased solid brass rods and made lace curtains as she wanted light shining through.
