Storables or the Container Store have lots of containers for storing things. One of the best ideas is to go UP. Using higher wall space. Book shelves or stacking plastic boxes and label the ends. Multi-plastic drawers on wheels that you can move around or remove wheels and again stack on top of each other. I have a chrome metal rack bought at Costco on wheels that is over 6 ft high. 18 inch deep boxes fit on shelves. Depending on how high of boxes you put on it two will work on top of each other mine are 6 1/2 inch's high. Buy translucent boxes so you can see what is in them.
If you gave a few more details about what kinds of craft materials you mostly have, or the size of your room, Hometalkers would be able to give you answers that are more specific to your situation.
WIRED BASKETS!!! Stackable or hang on a wall for easy access. Dollar tree or Dollar Store. Spray paint different colors or leave the color they are. You can see whats inside and not waste time hunting. Hope this helps! Works for me!!
