You will need to lightly sand with 600 grit paper and apply paste wax and buff out. Simple fix.
Try spraying the counter top with WD40 to soften up the glue... gently scrape with a paint scraper (special handle with a razor blade) and wipe with paper towels..... repeat with the WD40 until the glue is gone.
I also have this problem so will try these ideas - just don't want to make the problem worse as I basically am the only one that notices it. Next time I will know better and use newspaper under my projects !
Sanding might make it worse....I take a razor blade and scrape as much glue off as I can. Then I take a small amount of alcohol on a cotton ball and dab on the spot....Small enough so that the ball is just damp. Then soap and water and then use Fantastik or Mr. Clean liquid or some other cleaner and you should not see your glue spot.
