If you have burned something in your pots and it is stuck to the bottom, use some baking soda. Baking soda is inexpensive and let it do the work. This is what I mean. Put some water in the pot - fill it about halfway. Add some baking soda. Start with 1/2 cup and go up depending on the size of the pot. Heat. Watch it because with the baking soda in it, when it gets boiling, it can boil right over. You only want it to simmer or lightly boil for about 15 minutes. The magic will be when you dump out the water into your sink. Hopefully the stuck on, browned gunk will come out - all together in one big piece that you can pick up and throw away. If not, you may have to give it one more try. Give it a go and see if that works.
I saw a tip somewhere on line. Put dryer sheets in with water and allow to soak. Works like a charm!
Try bar keepers friend
Are the burnt spots on the outside bottom of the pot, or are they on the inside where the food goes?
bar keepers friend is amazing for this!
The brown on the outside comes from soap if you rinse thoroughly you won't get a black pot.
It worked for me. Burnt brussel sprouts, save yourself, don't burn them!
