Painted Island Update...One Year

by CC
Last year I painted my island with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and sealed it with her lacquer. How is it holding up? Would I do it again? Will I paint my perimeter cabinets? Check out the pictures for the answers to those questions.
Overall it's holding up great and I'm very happy I did it. Would I do it again? Yes, even though it was an incredible amount of work.
This is the only spot I haven't been able to get off...it's almost like it got under the lacquer??? I may have to re-paint this drawer front. Everything else I've been able to scrub off.
I do have to wipe off some blue shadowing from blue jean knees rubbing up against the back. It always comes right off.
Will I use chalk paint on the perimeter cabinets? Probably not, I think I'm going to do a stain with a sealer since those cupboards see a lot more action and chalk painting, distressing, glazing, sealing is a labor intensive project.

I did not use wax because I was told I'd need to apply 3 coats of wax. I used Annis Sloan's Lacquer which is for floors. To touch up... I'll have to sand it down and start over...I tried covering it up with glaze...didn't work. Luckily it's just a drawer front.

So great to see an update on this island! I recall your initial post. I always loved the color.
