I made a wood frame between awning posts and attached heavy clear vinyl sheeting. Worked wonderful, kept fall leaves and snow off patio .
Is this a solid, permanent aluminum awning or a retractable? With screen you may discourage mosquitoes but the snow is still coming in. Did you want to put a door in or are you looking for no outside access?
It does seem that you might be asking too much from an aluminum awning, even a new one. Sounds like you are trying to accomplish a three seasons porch. Everything that is already there, like roofline of the house, patio, trees, property line, local zoning, and budget all come into play. We cannot know any of that so making sound recommendations by remote will be hit and miss. Contractors will come out for free and give insane price quotes and recommendations that will fit with what you are trying to accomplish. Don't tell them what you want to build, tell them what problems you want to solve. Let them recommend a solution. Maybe they can even tell you there is an aluminum awning product that will do it all.
