Leave it alone. In Spring cut back to 6 to 8 inches, it will take it from there.
After frost, it will die back on its own. New foliage will appear in. Late Spring. Now is the time to mark where it is planted and mulch well!!! When gets warmer after thawing if ground is done, take mulch up. The bush will appear!!! I've had one for years! Southwest Iowa!!
Cut back to about 3 foot tall.
