Yes! You will need to remove all wax and grease from the floor. Use TSP with warm water to start with. Next use 100 grit sandpaper to remove anything that did not come up with the TSP, then vacuum and wipe the floor with warm water using a clean rag. You are now ready for primer/sealer paint. After drying for a day paint the floor with a floor paint recommended by the paint dept. Get someone that has been there a while or ask for the dept head to recommend the paint to use.
Years ago, my mom did a great job on our worn linoleum floor. She washed it and then opened 3 or 4 half pints of enamel in different colors. She then took a sponge about the size of a 50 cent piece and started touching the paint and the touching the floor. She used different sponges for each color of paint and overlapped the colors. In one afternoon she had a beautiful new stippled floor. The paint usually lasted a couple of years and then she just changed the colors.
