Add new pillows in different patterns and colors. You can also add a bright throw. We can't afford new furniture so I go to Hobby Lobby and get pillow forms and covers. Each week they have a 50 percent off coupon so you can buy in stages and save a bundle

slip covers....or in my case....fleece blanket across the back.. down the front to the seat cushion and tuck it in .....smooth out the remainder for the seat front. My couch is a neutral beige not much will clash. At the moment I have navy on the couch and a floral throw to hide under.

Yep if you can't afford anything else fleece is great. I made these "slip covers" out of four $3 fleece blankets. I just basted them in place. When they get soiled I can replace and maybe even then just pin them. If you use DFM's idea a long pole can hold the blanket in place behind the cushions. T pins are great too for projects like this.

Make sure it has no stains, tears or rips and that the seating is not saggy. All else is cosmetic. Like others mentioned, a blanket throw and some throw pillows will brighten things up!
