if you are wanting to make curtians and don’t sew, you can use iron on fusible webbing to make the hems. As far as fullness goes measure the window width and double or triple it depending on how much light you want the window to provide.
if you a certain type of window you could use a tension rod to support the curtians, otherwise those white is rods that clip on a bracket mounted just above and a bout an inch or two away from the window frame. There are also ring clips for curtians...I’ve seen mostly brass colored but I haven’t shopped them out since my last move. Those clips slide onto a rod you pinch them a certain way to grab fabric for the curtians...had hung a thick bath towel horizontally to block the light so I could sleep b/4 working overnights. Probably not an issue for a kitchen. Vintage tea towels maybe?
