A little backing soda, dish soap and elbow grease works just fine.
Glass or regular the trick is to stay ahead of the game. Never let it build up once it is clean. Hillela uses some of the same things I did before I bought a stove with a glass top. That you have to be careful with and use non abrasive cleaners. Another thing I found out is to be careful and not scoot your pots and pans around on the burner surface.
