If you are referring to the outside door yes that will never work, you can paint he door with exterior paint for vinyl.Do you want to do that
I think it would be cool. But I love color and patterns in decor! I am not sure if contact paper would stand up to the elements, you could use paint and use stencils to create a fun pattern. If you used contact paper, maybe just protect it with some kind of sealant. I might just do this with my front door, you have inspired me! Check out some of these doors:

Contact paper isn't a good idea on the front door. If you want to do something other than "bland white" then paint a color.
No, it wouldn't be weird if that's what you like. Contact paper will eventually fade and peel, though.
I have a 2-color door, red and brown and don't think 2-color doors are that uncommon.
Too weird. No contact paper on your front door.
My vote is to give it a try! How about stenciling? Only reason I mention that is because I was at a local hobby store today and they just had a new shipment of stencils and I sat there for a solid hour going through all of them. And I was thinking to do something a bit different to my front door too this winter. If you use paint and do not like it or decide to sell, you just paint over it. I have a screen door so mine will always be a bit muted at street view.
I vote for the paint too. Eventually contact paper will peel.
Paint or adding molding is your best bet. Contact paper adhesive will be affected by cold and heat and peel.
I agree, contact paper will not last as long as paint will. You inspired me too to pain my front door in different colors, not just one solid color! Thank you!
Thanks for your reply, but the main question is whether to have a two-toned door. NCT
I cannot at this time. But you can see a slew of examples here https://www.google.com/search?biw=1703&bih=855&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=front+doors+with+two+tones&oq=front+doors+with+two+tones&gs_l=psy-ab.3...91332.91970.0.92512.6.6.0.0.0.0.84.398.6.6.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..0.0.0....0.RgTYfMUHyKQ
