If you don't have a dishwasher you can mix hot water, Dawn dishwasher detergent and baking soda and soak in an underbed storage container. I make a paste of Dawn and baking soda and put it into the container. Put in the grates and add enough water to cover. Put on the lid and soak overnight. Grime comes off easily.

Place in a bag with ammonia over night
Put them in your oven when you use the self clean option for the oven.
