Hi Judy, You could soak your doily is a mixture of starch and water. Lay it over a bowl to dry. Once it is dry, take it off the bowl. It will hold that shape. You could use it in your bathroom to hold soaps. Or in any room really. Use it as you would a bowl.
i bought a shadow box from the local craft store and framed my grandmothers crocheted doilies in them.
See if you can find anything here . . .

I, too, would frame them. Put an attractive fabric on the backing that goes with your décor and would highlight the intricacies if the doily, something bright or dark if it is light colored. Take it with you when looking for the fabric and you can put it on it to see which colors are best. Put glass on it that would protect the fabric from the fading sun if it is on a sunny wall.
Catherine Anspaugh, Love that you preserved your grandmother's doilies. I was just going to plead that everyone be conscious of the inherent value of a hand made item. The owner might not see value in the hours a loved one spent of producing these items, but someone else in your family might feel differently. Guess you can tell that my house is full of things which belonged to my mother, this grandmother or that great aunt, but it seems that all six of us siblings inherited this trait from our collector parents...life is good!
A starched doily in a picture frame with wide edges would make a lovely tray on a dresser. 😇💖
I love to collect antique doilies. A simple piece of satin(ish) material and a pillow form with a stitched down doily at the centerpiece makes very elegant pillows. Found a beautiful piece of damaged antique lace tablecloth that was converted into two pillows and framed in dual glass frame to hang on the wall. Well, all three went as a gift to a dear friend.
Back it with a favorite piece of fabric and stitch it into a pillow.
Thanks for all your good ideas. I plan on trying them all as I have so many dollies from my great grandmother and grandmother.
