The owner went away and thought they could keep their house plant watered by keeping it in sink in master bedroom. They left the water on to just a few drops every so often, or so they thought. Dirt overflowed plugging drain. Basement had over four feet of water in it. Lost every floor in first floor, half of 2nd floor where sink was located. and a good amount of their personal furnishings because of mold growth. Took place in two weeks.

KMS Woodworks on Jun 27, 2011Maybe next time they will hire the neighbor kid to come water the plant twice a week...and pay him 20 bucks or so...All of that hardwood destroyed...and people wonder why I recommend tile in kitchens....a little water + a little time = big mess

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jun 27, 2011I got to dig them out, but I did a house near Cape May a few years ago abd took a few hundred photos, Client had one of those counter top water units attached to fauct and the plastic hose cracked while they were away. Almost lost the entire house. Moisture was so bad that it soaked the insulation in walls and rotted the sheating from the inside out. Water ran for what they thought was about a month.
