had wood flooring installed. dust from all rooms covered with rug. what would be the best ingredients to wipe the walls. would it be a combo of baking soda, white vinegar, hot water, and ammonia. i read this somewhere. did this combo, did not remove the
dirty marks behind the large pictures i had on walls. this was in the long hallway, also in the foyer. i also need to do the bedrooms. appreciate it. thanks.

Do you have "dirty marks" because you smoke? If answer is 'yes' you will have a problem removing tar stains from cigarettes. Try a solution of warm water and Spic and Span (if you can find it).

thanks for answering, that was quick. no,no one in this household ever smoked. have large pictures on wall and when i took them off wall, very dirty marks where frame was also from back of picture. almost black. i washed the walls but cannot remove those black marks and tried different combos of things and no,did not think of spic and spam. used that product many years ago. will try to find it. thanks for your email. appreciate it.

I have successfully used just white vinegar and water in a mild ratio. If there are any marks you can use a magic eraser beforehand.

    TSP is always good.

Googled SPIC & SPAN and came up with two sites that carry it: Amazon and Shoplet. Appears to be carried by commercial companies now, but take a look at the sites because there is S & S in spray bottles that isn't too expensive.

I smoked for 40 yrs. - stopped in the early 90s - and remember the clean spots on the walls left when I took down pictures and mirrors to clean. Imagine what my lungs looked like.

I'm glad you didn't get offended when I asked whether you smoked or not because many people get offended about everything nowadays. Good luck and happy hunting.

thank you Janet. yes,it did work and the walls are easy to clean. i used a clean dry mop, brand new, to wipe walls first, then washed with vinegar water. now, time to paint. thanks.
