Desert rat here, it never freezes. What do I have to do to winterize

  • Lucky you! Not too much. Even though it may not freeze, plants will still go a bit dormant for a bit. Just water as needed to keep everything alive and when things wake up and start sprouting again, increase watering.     Seal up any holes outside with spray foam,check for drafts,if needed for drafts on windows use Three m insulation kits,place rat and mouse traps OUTSIDE

  • The first thing you want to do is shut off the water to any outside spigots. The shut-off should be in the basement. Once you've done that, go outside and open the faucet (turn it on)to let out any accumulated water. You can leave it open. They even make styrofoam covers to put over them. Make sure all storm windows are in place and secure. Hope this helps!
