Put small plants in pots inside them, place a candle in them, make a garden decoration with them
I cover the mug with a towel and break it up with a hammer. I use the pieces in my custom concrete stepping stones. The curve is perfect as you can sink the piece until the edges are embedded in the concrete.
I drill holes in them and use them for succulent planters.
I use one for a pencil holder. Okay, that's one. How many more do you have? Mugs are so cheap at thrift stores and every one has lots of them. You know those pottery shards you put down to keep the drain open before filling a new pot with soil? There you go. I've also crushed them down, along with an old toilet, for use as aggregate on a gravel driveway. Don't know if I recommend that because the pieces can be as sharp as glass. Sometimes things just need to be thrown away.
